I know it's not going to be bringing me back. I guess WotC is trying something, rather than just letting the format die, but I suspect the obvious flailing will turn off as many people as it brings in.
I guess I should say at this point (despite my flair, rip), I think banning partner commanders is the right call. Never really understood why Treachery was banned in the first place. You want to unban those? Sure, go for it. Is unbanning any of these cards going to bring people into the format? Does the existence of UBx decks with 15+ tutors/cantrips improve the format? I certainly don't think so.Īfter the fast mana, tutors and cantrips, you're left with a few Delve cards, Treachery, Necropotence and Bargain, Entomb and Vial Smasher. You don't have to play too many games of old school Commander 1v1 to realize that a huge number of games come down to who drew their fast mana opening hand.
Since its inception, I've played a ton of the 1v1 format, and I played a ton of regular old Commander in 1v1 games, and in my opinon, the unabanning of fast mana, (Ring, Crypt, Vault, Cradle) is super dumb.
